Summary
The paper cover over this volume reads: "Records of the Ward Five School Commission". Attached to the flyleaf is the document ordaining a Commission to plan a Ward 5 school. It is a three-page typed document signed by Cornelius Corcoran, City Clerk. Another page follows with an order from the Board of Aldermen dated Sept. 11, 1899, giving to the School Committee "the authority to recommend plans for school buildings to be erected." There follows minutes of the Commission starting Sept. 14, 1899 meeting in the Director's room of the Essex Savings Bank. The Commission was composed of H. Eaton, Alfred Lamprey, Lewis P. Collins, Frances Flanagan, and Robert Tewksbury. Beside the handwritten minutes there are newspaper clippings of bids for contractors, copies of letters to contractors, copies of letters to the City Council, and appropriations and receipts
