Summary
Scrapbook compiled by Kochman documenting her experiences as a volunteer for the local USO and Junior USO during World War II, including many photographs of Jean, her mother, Elizabeth Kochman, and other volunteers at USO and Junior USO events; list of those not pictured as well as a typed list of members; letters and one telegram from individual soldiers at various U.S. military bases, the Red Cross, other USO chapters, and several churches and educational institutions in Lawrence, many promoting the character of those eligible for membership in the USO; letters commending Kochman and her "girls" for their efforts in entertaining the troops; list of Junior hostess groups and rules of the organization; two certificates from National Jewish Welfare Board honoring Jean and her mother Elizabeth Kochman; and certificates from the national USO honoring both women. Also includes a copy of Horizons, a Lawrence centennial souvenir; bound copy of Lawrence Sunday Sun with its column Scriptease "by talk it off", written by Kochman's brother Joseph Kochman; and copies of scrapbook pages, additional photographs, and a clipping
