Resident of Lawrence, Mass.; served in the Civilian Conservation Corps, 107 Company in North Adams, Mass., area in the 1930s. Enlisted with two friends (Andrew W. Vanasse and Raymond J. Duckett) in the U.S. Army, 11th Coast Artillery, Battery I, serving at Corregidor and being taken as prisoner May 7, 1942, staying as a POW first in the Philippines and then in Japan, returning to the U.S., in 1945. After the war worked as masonry contractor in the Lawrence area.
