Summary
The name, Whippet Club, was associated with a tavern located at 152 South Union Street. This was a destination for Democratic politicians and was also known as Gilligan’s after the family that owned it. William F. Gilligan was the last of the family. He died in 1973. By the year 2000, the Lawrence Whippet Club was gone. Andrew Coburn wrote about Gilligan’s (Lawrence Whippet Club) in the Journal of Greater Lawrence, 1973
