The collection also conntains a few negatives smaller than the 3x5 size. Some negatives have an image of the photo attached. There is one lantern slide. These negatives were mostly in the library before the archivist worked on them. A few might have been added in the early years. The negatives were created by copying these photographs from the Lawrence Public Library special collections. Patrons paid a fee and retained the developed print. And the Library retained the negative. In the early 21st century, rapidly evolving technology brought profound alterations in how the photographs were processed. Many of the photographs the library owns were digitized and made available to the public online
