Summary
This scrapbook is a Mark Twain scrapbook purchased from Daniel Slote & Co. in New York. There is a printed index at the front, but it is not filled in. The spine reads Aug. 1st '93 to Apr. 21, '94. There are 145 pages (of 150) filled with newspaper clippings. The pages are rippled from moisture exposure. The volume measures 25x18x6 cm. The first actual article is dated August 29, 1893 and is regarding the construction of the new Rollins School in the City of Lawrence. The progress of this process continues throughout the scrapbook. Other schools, the school committee, the location of the new normal (training) school, statistics concerning the public schools, teachers, and honors accrued by schools or students are included in this scrapbook. Other topics include small pox vaccination of LPS pupils, the abolishment of sponges and slate and replacement with paper and pencils, and Lawrence City Government. There are a number of articles about White Fund lectures. The date of the last article is April 21, 1894
