Summary
Each of the first ten maps measures 134x76 cm. They are made of a fine flexible mylar. The maps are entirely hand drawn in black ink. Names of many property owners are listed, but many buildings that should be on them are not. Either the draftsman never finished it or he was only concerned with certain areas. The maps appear to divide the city into lots. None of them are dated, but the archivist feels that the latest date would be the late 1870s and might be as early as the 1860s. Number 11 is a hand drawn copy on mylar of an original 1795 Andover map. Number 12 is paper on canvas framed by a wooden dowel on the bottom end and a piece of molding on the top. There is red tape on the back making a loop so it could be hung. The scale is 1 inch to 600 feet and a key explains old roads now streets, old roads now discontinued, and present streets. It is undated. Number 13 is paper on linen, but is now in four pieces. The map is drawn in black ink but names of owners and other information are filled in in pencil. A good copy of this is map #24 (rolled). Number 22 was rolled up on two dowels. It is in very fragile condition with the paper pulling up off the fabric. The map has been removed from the dowels and rolled up again the opposite way, wrapped in glassine. The size is roughly 4.5 by 6 feet
