Summary
There are seven undated volumes. The ledgers read: Name, Residence Street and number, Description of property, Real Estate, Personal Estate, Dwellings, Shops in Dwellings, Shops, Barns, Stores, Buildings 20 to 100, Buildings 1 to 100, Stock in Trade, Money in Interest, Money on Hand, Horses, Oxen, Cows, and Swine. The columns are to be filled in with either numbers or dollars. Others have addresses and various items; valuation is in columns to the right. The earliest one (probably from the 1840's) has printed lists of citizens (class I and II). There is one dated 1848. In 1853 the ledgers multiplied to one for each ward. Most of the volumes are 34 cm., unpaged, with letter tabs. Each alphabetical section seems to have both resident and non-resident businesses. Below the names are addresses and various items; valuation is in columns to the right. Though none of the volumes have titles, the archivist believes this is another valuation product particularly for businesses
