Summary
This collection of material was removed from the general White Fund papers. All the materials were located in filing cabinets in the Trustee Room of the Lawrence Public Library. The White Fund collection was processed in 2019 and the remaining material that dealt with the painting controversy was completed in February of 2020. The collection is contained in eight records center boxes and one folder. The folder contains the projected plans for the site in Lawrence of Emerson College. This never came to be. The rest of the material includes correspondence over two and one half decades: first the original idea of selling the paintings in the mid 1980's, the intervening years of activities concerning the paintings (insurance, exhibition, valuation, etc.), the second period that covers the court case, and a few years after the resolution that again talks about exhibits and school visits. There is a lot of material that talks about the concerns of the public, the early years of the creation of Arts for Lawrence, locations where the paintings might have been exhibited, and many clippings and print outs of press coverage. Finally, there are two boxes that are filled with the papers that document the court case: affidavits, motions, briefs, depositions, oppositions, and reviews
