Summary
The first image is a black and white photograph (13x13 cm.) with the upper left corner missing and some image lost in lower right corner and side. The photograph shows a man in a dark topcoat and stocking hat pushing another man along with a bayonet affixed to a rifle. The man being prodded by the bayonet wears a cloth cap. Writing on verso of the photograph reads "Charging strikers with bayonets Lawrence, Mass., strike Jan. 19, 1912 from the NY Herald Syndicate." The second image (14x11 cm.) was cut The Technical World ( v. 18 1913 p. 534). It shows a banner being held between two poles by strikers. In the background one can see another banner that is written in Spanish. The banner reads: "XX Century civilization ... for the progress of the human race, we have jails, gallows, guillotine's monthjuich [meaning unknown], and electric chairs for the people who keep the 'soldier's' to kill them when they revolt against Wood & others Czars of capitalism _____ Rise!! Slaves of the world"" No God No master. One for all & all for one". The caption below the images reads: The "banner of revolt" as displayed by a parade of mill workers at that center of seething labor unrest, Lawrence, Mass
