- Summary
- Scrapbook was pasted into a Commonwealth of Massachusetts account book that was handed out to cities and towns for their assessment of taxes. The pages are dated 1861 and 1875. The first page is undoctored and it appears the book was never used for the stated purposes. Instead the Lawrence Assessor's Office pasted in a variety of material covering the years 1848-1909. The first page has three printed with street numbering handbills (1888, 1891 and 1896). This is followed by more street renumbering; handwritten note with the frontage of various mills in yards, clippings about a variety of topics, hand-drawn maps of streets with property valuations; letters; information on property holders and their taxes (1878); Massachusetts town valuations (1879); information on land of the heirs of Moses Foster on Farnham, Andover, Boxford, and Cambridge Streets (1875); plans of land (1872, 1893, 1895) for various people (Stillman P. Marsh, Levi Emery heirs, heirs of J. Merrill Currier, plan of West Park; plan of land on Prospect Hill owned by Walter Coulson); other information on the property of Turn Hall Society and James Bicknell (both 1895); plan of land belonging to L.M. Shattuck (1890); Terrence McGovern property (1895); plan of land F.A. Hiscox (1892); Cottage Park belonging to John Colby (1890); plan of Elas land (1893); samples of tax forms (1878-1881; including poll tax); Prospect Hill owned by Walter Coulson (1895); plan of house lots for A.
